I have taught in primary and secondary schools, in Bath and Wiltshire, for over 25 years. I began my career teaching English in various secondary schools before moving to the primary sector 15 years ago. Over time, I have taught virtually every year group from Y1 to Y13. I consider myself fortunate to have taught children and young people from across this wide age range.
In 2021, I decided to make some changes and I moved from working in schools to starting my own tutoring company. I believe my positive attitude to life, and my calm, purposeful and child-centred approach suits focused and individual (or small group) tuition. I still have at my core a sincere belief in the importance of learning and the development of secure and adaptable life skills. Supporting a child or young person to express themselves confidently and effectively and helping them to read and comprehend a text accurately is so important, as is a sound foundation in numeracy. Secure foundations in these areas can mean they have a better chance of achieving what they wish for once they have left school.
Outside of work, I am the mother of two children. I have a gorgeous, cheeky Border Terrier that keeps me on my toes. I enjoy reading, listening to music and podcasts, watching crime dramas and cooking. I love walks with my dog, attempting knitting patterns, and meeting up with family and friends.
